Fudge Brownies

I must be honest and tell you I have a really big weakness, well maybe a few.

First, give me something sweet and I will love you forever. But please give me the recipe!

Second, I'm a night owl; if it's after 9:00pm you better believe I've got a snack next to me. Chances are I hid it all day long from the kids or the oven is currently on and something sweet is baking. I LOVE to bake!

P.S. If you don't hide candy and snacks from your children, you need to start.

Ok, next.

If you have ever scrolled for a recipe, you know they can be a pain to actually get to the recipe part of it through a blog a mile long! So my goal with the recipes I give you is to give you a brief backstory and get right to the goods. As of right now, I don't have the fancy "jump to recipe" button or "print now" button, so get out your pen and paper or take a screen shot. Stick around and you will find I like old-school style. ;)

Here we go...

Brownies...be done with the box brownies and get your whisk out, these are worth it! You should have most of these things on hand on which is nice too!

Extra fudgy and dense brownies made with real chocolate and cocoa powder! So good!

FUDGE BROWNIES

PREP TIME: 15 minutes COOK TIME: 30 minutes

TOTAL TIME: 45 minutes SERVINGS: 16 brownies

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate chopped (Nestle chocolate chips work fine too)

  • 3/4 cup salted butter cut into chunks

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar

  • 3 large eggs room temperature

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup chocolate chips

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a square 9x9 baking dish with parchment paper or spray with baking spray.

  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the bittersweet chocolate and butter. Microwave on high in 20-30 second bursts, stirring well between bursts of heat until melted and smooth. Then whisk in cocoa powder.

  3. Add granulated sugar and brown sugar, whisking well to combine. Add eggs and vanilla, beating well either by hand with a whisk or using an electric mixer.

  4. Sprinkle the flour and salt over the brownie batter and gently stir it in with a spatula or wooden spoon. Then stir in chocolate chips.

  5. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and spread into the corners. The batter will be thick.

  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of brownies comes out mostly clean with only a few crumbs attached. Be sure not to overbake.

  7. Cool completely before cutting. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days on the counter or in the fridge.

NOTES

  • 8x8-inch baking pan: Brownies will be thicker and take longer to bake, more like 40-45 minutes.

  • 9x13-inch baking pan: Brownies can be spread into larger pan and baked thinner for 20-25 minutes.

I hope these brownies fulfill your sweet tooth and put a smile on your family's face! Enjoy!
